You can get to Alaska via land or sea--a popular way to travel there is by cruise ship. Several cruise lines sail to Alaska, including Carnival, Princess, Norwegian, Celebrity, Regent 7 Seas, Oceana, Celebrity, Silver Sea, Disney Cruise Line, and Royal Caribbean International.

The most popular departure port is Seattle, but they also leave out of San Francisco, Vancouver, and several ports within the state of Alaska. If you go to Alaska on a cruise, get a window or a balcony if at all possible! Most itineraries go through the Inside Passage and you won't want to miss stunning views like these. You might even see a whale or two!

And if you go by land, bring warm clothes! Average daytime summer temperatures range from approximately 55 to 78 degrees Fahrenheit (13 to 26 degrees Celsius); average daytime winter temperatures are about 5 to 30 degrees (-15 to -1 degrees Celsius).
